AWARENESS-RAISING ACTIVITY

In collaboration with our partners, SCICA organised information meetings with health professionals on the perception of COVId-19 among young immigrants who were stuck between the vaccine and the conspiracy theory. These meetings through zoom, allowed young people to find answers on the issue of the pandemic.

Other cultural activities on managing finances in times of economic uncertainty were led by two Desjardins financial advisors. The aim was to prevent low-income families from misusing their finances and also to help them budget.

ACTIVITY DURING THE BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Every February, which is considered the Black History Month, SCICA organises awareness-raising sessions for children at Marie Curé Elementary School in Ottawa. Our activities depend on the theme proposed by the school Principal. Generally, we intervene to present the achievements of certain people within the Black community. The goal is to prepare immigrant youth and children for the challenges that many in the community face.
